The Promise

A floral portrait for my dear friend Doria Plume as a gift for her birthday. This is Mary, the main character of her story "La reine bleue".
I like the moment when she turns into a winged woman a lot. I always have a bit of nostalgia when drawing this character and her dreamy eyes.

The calla lilies have a big meaning for Mary in the novel and represent an important promise that she made with someone.
More commonly, this flowers are used to symbolize purity, innocence, resurection and rebirth.
